The Grain Brain is a fully automatic weighing machine, designed for yield measurement by weight on the Combine Harvester.
As the crop passes through the Grain Brain it flows over a weighing plate. An electronic loadcell mounted behind this plate measures the true weight which is then totalised over the whole field, and displayed on the Brain Box indicator in the cab.
In operation the system is simple. To use the Grain Brain all the operator has to do is to switch the weigher on at the start of a days harvesting.
Whether unloading on the move or stationary accuracy is better than plus or minus 2 percent. Fitting is easy. The Grain Brain is supplied with full fitting instructions, and can be fitted on the farm. Fitting takes about 4 hours for the GB1, and 5 hours for the GB2 or GB3.
After the Grain Brain has been fitted to the combine harvester, a check weighing should be done to adjust the calibration to suit the combine. Because the Grain Brain is a true weigher, it does not have to be recalibrated for different crops or bushel weights.
At the touch of a button the control box can predict what the grain will weigh after it has been dried to the desired moisture content.
The Grain Brain has its own back up power supply so that should the unit be disconnected from the combine battery during harvest the information stored in the memories will not be lost.
GB1
The Grain brain type GB1 is the basic Combine grain weigher. It includes Total and Plot weight memories, and the moisture correction facility.
GB2
The Grain Brain type GB2 also includes a speed and area metre. This gives the area harvested, speed of operation, and crop yield in tonnes per hectare. The area meter can be taken out of the combine, and used as an area meter on other machines. Extra sets of sensors and mounting brackets are available for this purpose.
GB3
The Grain Brain type GB3 has a built-in printer. The GB3 also includes areas measurement as on the GB2.
